Donald L. Dockum, 84, formerly of Peru, went home to be with our Lord and his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Helen (Enyeart), on Thursday April 7, 2016 at his home in Dunnellon, FL surrounded by his children and loved ones.

He was born in Whitehall, NY on September 16, 1932 to Charles and Bertha (Norton) Dockum. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1951.

He served his country proudly, having served 4 years in the National Guard and 26 years in the US Air Force before retiring in 1979 at Altus AFB having obtained a rank of Master Sargent. He was one of the Supervisors of the “High Pressure Flight Suit” team that supported the top secret SR71 spy plane at Edwards AFB IN 1965 that broke the air speed and altitude records of that time.

Don is survived by his daughter Debbie (Roy) Rheinfrank of Kokomo, IN, step children John (Rose Marie) Miller of Orlando, FL, Jim (Shirley) Miller of Kokomo,IN, Susan Chilcutt of Bunker Hill, grandchildren Matt Chilcutt(wife Maggie and daughter Ellie), Nancy Lewis (and daughter Brooklynn), Jennifer, Virginia, Rachel, Matt and Jenny and great grand children. Also surviving is his brother Charlie (Judy) Dockum, sister Carol (Bruce) Angus, brother-in-law John Stone and many nieces and nephews and his special friend Phyllis.

Preceding him in death were his parents Charles and Bertha, his wife Mary Helen, his sister Faye, and his son-in-law Larry Chilcutt.

He is leaving behind many friends and family who will remember him with fond memories and much love.

Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, IN at 3:00 on Thursday, April 14, 2016.
