Kathleen M. Prus, 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 8:11 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington.
Mrs. Prus was born on July 12, 1930, in Buffalo, NY, to Hubert and Madeline (Billard) Kelly. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Francis “Duce” Prus on June 21, 1952. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2011.
Kathleen graduated from Port Jervis High School, NY, in 1948 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1951. She was a Registered Nurse and certified Geriatric Nurse for over 40 years. She retired from Miller’s Merry Manor. Kathleen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Sodality, Erie Lackawanna Ladies Veterans Association, active member of the YMCA and the Johnson Junction Cappuccino Club. Kathleen loved to crochet, knit, bake and was an avid book reader.
Mrs. Prus is survived by two sons, Kevin (Cindy) Prus, Huntington, IN, John (Debra) Prus, Newport News, VA; two daughters, Linda Prus, Fort Wayne, Shari (Larry) Holbrook, Kendallville, IN; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Kelly, Jr. and a sister, Patsy Bickel.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Fr. Stephen Colchin presiding.
Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parkview Huntington Foundation or Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
