Logansport Mall Sold

This from the Pharos Tribune: LOGANSPORT, IN- Mayor Dave Kitchell announced Friday afternoon that the Logansport Mall has officially been sold, and the closing is set for December.

The renovation of the mall, located in the 3900 block of E. Market St., will include a “national brand name hotel” on the east side where the J.C. Penny store used to be, according to a press release from the mayor’s office.

That part of the mall will be demolished to make room for the hotel, the press release stated.

“Existing mall tenants are expected to remain, and the developer has one major tenant new to the community and is in the process of securing other tenants,” it continued. In July, Kitchell said the developer was working to attract a dozen new stores.

The mall had opened in 1968, but in recent times it had been losing tenants.

He said the mall sale will likely stimulate businesses around it because it’ll bring in more customers, and and it would likely raise surrounding property values.
