SILVER LAKE – An ongoing investigation in Silver Lake has resulted in 55 dogs being taken from a residence and handed over to the Kosciusko County Animal Welfare League Tuesday night.

Silver Lake Fire Chief John Conley provided photos from the scene Tuesday night and plans to share more information, along with Silver Lake police, at noon Wednesday.

The AWL posted for community help on Facebook Tuesday night, writing they have taken in the animals and are in dire need of towels, blankets, dishes, flea and tick medication, small breed pet food, cleaning supplies, pooper scoopers and monetary donations to cover the cost of housing the small breed dogs they just took in.

AWL is asking for the community to leave these donations to the side of the front doors of the red building. The AWL is located at 1048 S. CR 325E, Pierceton.

“Also, we need volunteers to assist with the care of these animals as we are not staffed for such an influx at one time,” the Facebook post reads.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
