Peru Mayor Miles Hewitt Releases Statement

PERU, IN- Here is a message from City of Peru Mayor Miles Hewitt

In conjunction with the Governor’s extended stay at home order, the Peru Council Meeting along with the Board of Works meetings have been postponed for the month of April.
We are in a difficult time like we have never seen in Peru before. However, we will come through this trying time together. Please remember the Governor has asked for social distancing of 6 ft. All Peru City playgrounds have been closed along with all basketball courts.
Please if you must go to the store or pharmacy, DO NOT congregate in the parking lots. We are all in this together and must protect one another to stop this deadly spread.
Warm weather is fast approaching. People will want to be outside and this is not a problem. You will be able to walk and bicycle and exercise, just remember the 6 ft social distance rule and no groups of 10 or more. The walkway and skate park are open at this time.
More posts and announcements will be forth coming. A radio announcement will be aired on 101.9. 101.9 is the only radio station that will carry the announcements.
Due to the overwhelming number of calls received by the Miami County Board of Health, I am unable to get any statistics on how many COVID-19 tests have been administered or the results. According to the CDC, Miami County has 7 cases reported as of this morning; however they are expecting a lot more.
PLEASE PEOPLE STAY HOME IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. This will help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This will also help protect each other.
