Wabash Fire Department respond to Building Fire

 

WABASH CITY-  On Thursday 05/31/2018 at approximately 1930 the Wabash Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 98 W. Canal St in Wabash. The fire was called in by an off duty firefighter that was in the area. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke coming from the building, which is under construction. Fire fighters made entry and extinguished the fire on the second floor of the building.  The building was damaged by fire and smoke but the amount is undetermined at this time. Some smoke was in the attached business and was removed by fire department personnel.

 

The fire was extinguished as of 2010.  Damage is estimated at undetermined at this time.  All crews were back in-service at 2155 The Wabash City Fire Department is investigating the cause and origin of the fire which appears to have started on the second floor near an elevator shaft.  At the time of this press release the cause of the fire is accidental .  If any further questions please feel free to contact the Wabash City Fire Chief or the officer in charge.
