Alice M. Jannings, 83, Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on December 6, 2024 at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The daughter of William “Bill Henry and Frances J. (Branch) Schaffer, Alice was born December 4, 1941 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
In 1961, Alice married Robert S. Jannings, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing on February 8, 1983. During their marriage, they had three children, Stephen, Shawn, and Shannon. Alice delighted in coloring and drawing, expressing her artistic nature in ways that brought joy to herself. Her afternoons often featured her favorite old television shows, including classics like The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. Alongside this, she held a special fondness for cats, which added to the warmth and comfort of her life.
The loving memory of Alice Jannings will be forever cherished by her son, Shawn (Tonda) Jannings, Coatesville; daughter, Shannon Mack, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen Jannings; brothers, William “Bill” Schaffer, Morton Schaffer, and Myron “Buck” Schaffer; sisters, Bessie Small, Milla Huscher, Frances “Snookie” Nunley, and Marjorie Schaffer; and son-in-law, Ernest Mack.
Burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph, Michigan at a later date.
The family of Alice Jannings has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
