Alyxandra Nicole Montgomery, 19, of Marion, passed away at 5:39 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, November 4, 2005, to Edward Sexton and Carie Montgomery.
Alyx graduated from Marion High School in 2024, where she was a member of JROTC. She participated in various activities, including dancing, indoor soccer, and softball. Alyx grew to enjoy cooking and became quite skillful at it.
After graduating high school, Alyx joined the Army. She completed Infantry Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, in September of 2024. She then attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Gregg-Adams in Virginia, graduating in January of 2025 as a Petroleum Specialist. Alyx looked forward to serving her country overseas and had dreams of traveling the world.
Alyx is survived by her mother, Carie (James Stephenson) Montgomery; father, Edward (Brittany Harpham) Sexton; brothers, Braydon Montgomery, Kole Sexton, and Jimmy Stephenson; sisters, Madison Sexton, Melody Sexton, Nina Mattingly, and Carlie Mattingly; grandmother, Terry Montgomery; grandparents, Charles E. (Rhonda) Sexton; great-grandmothers, Betty Montgomery and Kayla Prickett; great-grandparents, Charles A. (Peggy J.) Sexton; aunt, Kelly Montgomery; uncles, Matthew (Samantha) Sumner and Marty (Annette) Sexton; cousins, Amaigha, Avynn, Anthony, Liv, Sharlotte, Cole, Addy, and Alyse; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kerry Joe Sumner, and four great-grandparents, Richard Montgomery, Keith Prickett, and Ray and Vivian Phillips.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 5909 S. Jay St., Marion, IN 46953.
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, visitation will be at Lighthouse Assembly of God from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Pastors Jerry Gallaway and Jeremy Snodgrass will be officiating with burial taking place at Grant Memorial Park.
