Berniece G. Shoemaker, 95, of rural Roann, Indiana, while at the Parkview Wabash Hospital, went to be with her Lord at 6:49 am, Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born on September 12, 1929, in McBain, Michigan, to George and Bertha (Nakken) Reinink.
Berniece was a 1948 graduate of McBain Public High School. She married Howard C. Shoemaker in Lake City, Michigan on January 19, 1952; he died May 18, 2022. Berniece worked at General Tire and Rubber Company in Wabash, retiring in 1990 after 35 years. She was a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, needle crafts, puzzles, and her family.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Lou Ann) Shoemaker of Wabash; two grandsons, Ryan (Georganne) Shoemaker of Mentone, Indiana, and Richard Shoemaker of Urbana, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Shoemaker and Elliana Shoemaker, both of Mentone; and her sister-in-law Pauline Reinink of New Port Richey, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Rd., Roann, with Pastor Laura Helm officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-2 pm Thursday, at the funeral home.
