Betty L. Harpham, 99, of Marion, passed away at 7:15 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Marion. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, July 2, 1925, to Jay and Lola (Welsh) Banter. On August 23, 1961, she married Gilbert W. Harpham, who preceded her.
A graduate of Jefferson Township Schools, Betty worked at Essex in Wabash and General Tire in Marion. She cherished her time at the lakes and enjoyed playing music on her player piano. Betty loved sitting on her porch, watching the neighbors’ horses, and found great joy in her dogs, especially her beloved Molly, whom she frequently asked about after moving into Suite Living.
Betty is survived by her sons, Wallace Jay (Teresa) Harpham of Swayzee, Bill (Deborah) Rice of Layfette; daughters, Pam (Kenneth) Harte of Venice, FL, Debbie Banter of Marion; grandchildren, Missy Ewen, Tony Harte, Nora Hill, Douglas Harpham, Jeffrey Harpham, Tina Fierstos; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Lola Banter; husband, Gilbert W. Harpham; granddaughter, Chasity Rice; grandson, Matthew Fierstos; and seven siblings.
At Betty’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
