Billy R. Sexton, 78, of Marion, passed away at 4:07 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Marion Health surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born in Bath County, Kentucky, on Monday, May 20, 1946, to James Henry and Nettie Mae (Thomas) Sexton. On July 6, 1967 he married Velva Hawkins, who survives.
Billy was a handyman and had worked in many places over the course of his life. He enjoyed fishing, collecting firearms and knives, and camping. He liked watching westerns on TV. More than anything, Billy loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Velva, Billy is survived by his daughters, Sally (Jim) Berns of Wabash and Cay (Donald) Hatfield of Hartford City; son, Danny (Jenaca) Sexton of Marion; grandsons, Christopher (Jessica) Gebhart, Michael (Searsha) Gebhart, Danny (Amber) Sexton Jr., Austin (Ameliah) Sexton, Christian (Kaylei) Sexton and Masyn Howell; granddaughters, Ashley (Mark McClain) Dean and Jessica (Robert) Cornell; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Aydin, Lyssa, Preston, Kiara, Izabella, Nova, Ava, Kenzley, Deacon, Danny III, and Jayce; several nieces, nephews and friends; and his cat, Bubba.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Sexton; mother, Nettie Mae Sexton; sisters, Ruby Jones and Dorothy Montgomery; brothers, Wesley Sexton and Sherman Sexton.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Billy's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
