Bobby Neal Jones, 87, died unexpectedly on March 16th, 2025. He was born Oct. 10th, 1937 in Butler Township, Peru. He was the son of General and Martha Jones. He attended school in Peru, IN, the same town he met his wife Katherine Ann Jones, who died in October 2024. They were married on July 3rd, 1959 and celebrated 65 years of marriage last year.
Bob was a loyal employee at Hereaus Electronite for 14 years, retiring in 2005. Bob loved listening to folk music, reading his Bible, and his coon dogs. If you ran into Bob, no doubt you would be listening to one of his stories, or at the very least cracking a joke. He loved talking to people and laughing. He was a devoted Christian and regularly attended Sunday service at Independent Christian Fellowship in Peru since 2012.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters Erma Becraft and Anna Helton, two brothers Bill and Dick Edgerley, as well as sister-in-laws Marlene Turnpaugh (Hobert), Connie Bloomfield (Kelly), Pat Opp, and brother-in-law Rick Opp. Surviving is his son Robert W. Jones (Sandy), and daughter Pamela K. Marburger (Paul). He is also survived by his sister Ruby Maxime Gibson. He was blessed with three grandchildren Alisha Marburger Johnson (Jeremiah), Kimberly Marburger, and Lucas Jones, four step-grandchildren Shay Kahn, Kyle Nallenweg, Sean Nallenweg, and Madi Nallenweg, as well as five great grandchildren. Surviving family members include Joe Opp, Terry & Colleen Opp, Jeannie & Charles Hughes, Larry & Rhonda Opp, Peggy Opp, and AJ Mosley (Barb).
A service will be held in his honor at 11:00AM Friday, March 21st at Reyburn Cemetery. Following the service, a lunch will be held at Independent Christian Fellowship, located at 120 W 10th Street in Peru at 11:30AM.
