Camellia “Millie” S. Thompson, 50, of LaFontaine, formerly of Swayzee, passed away at 3:37 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, March 18, 1974, to Jessie and Juanita (Gentry) Thompson.
Millie graduated from Oak Hill High School and dedicated her life to caring for children, working in the daycare at Swayzee Church and Swayzee Library. She had a special gift for connecting with kids, giving the best hugs, and always sharing her warm smile. Her soft hands and kind heart made her a beloved figure in the community.
Millie had a deep love for country music and could share endless facts about any artist. She was also a devoted fan of “The Dukes of Hazzard”. Above all, Millie cherished her family and the time spent with them.
She is survived by her brother, Gary (Jamie) Thompson of Jonesboro; sisters, Pamela “Pam” (Marty) Lewis of Jonesboro, Sharon K. Montgomery of Wabash, and Sandy Thompson of LaFontaine; 43 nieces and nephews whom she loved and who loved her dearly in return; and her sister at heart, Cathy Slusser of Huntington.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Juanita Thompson; her brother, Gregory Thompson; and her brother-in-law, Bill Montgomery.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Millie’s life will begin at 2:00 pm. Jerry Landis will be officiating with burial taking place at Thrailkill Cemetery.
