Candy Osborn

Candy Osborn, 76, passed away at home after losing her battle with cancer. Candy fought a hard and courageous battle for more than 3 years. Candace Rae Richardson was born to Eugene Arnett and Dorothy Jane Lange on January 15, 1948. Candy is survived by her 3 children Sandy (Robert) Jones, Jody Griffith and Scott Griffith. Candy is also survived by her 4 remaining siblings including Sue Richardson Clodfelter, Huntington, IN; Nancy Miller, Huntington, IN; Cindy Garrison Huntington, IN; and John Richardson Huntington, IN. Candy also had 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Although Candy had 9 biological grandchildren and 4 biological great-grandchildren, she considered others her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Candy never turned a child away and she will be remembered for that. Candy also had many special friends that survived her including Ashley Harper. Candy also has many surviving relatives including cousins, aunts and uncles. Candy loved to sew, quilt, crochet, knit, play cards, gardening, work on puzzles, spend time with others, watch movies and when she could visit the beach. Candy loved to attend dances and dance in her healthier days. Candy loved her family and would always help those in need even when it meant she would do without. Candy was known for her selfless giving to others. Candy was also active with the AmVets Post 5 and PWP (Parents without Partners). Throughout Candy’s illness and battle with cancer she continued to give everything she could to the PWP including mailing newsletters, organizing events, collecting dues and adding new members. Candy was most recently employed by Marion General Hospital where she worked from May 29, 2005, until a recent fall that she suffered in August 2024. This fall did not allow Candy to return to her job. Candy worked hard her entire life and at times two or more jobs to support her family. In her younger years Candy also worked at Memcor Truohm in Huntington IN and RCA and Handy Andy convenience store in Marion. Candy is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother Dan. Candy married Max Griffith in 1966 and was married to him until 1974. Max and Candy shared 3 children. Candy married Bobby Osborn in 1974 and was married to him until Nov. 2, 1999, which is when Bobby passed away. Candy finally was able to unite with the love of her life John Carney but sadly John passed away in 2009. Candy was a 1966 graduate of Huntington High School and also graduated from Ivy Tech State College on May 7, 2005, with an associate’s degree in applied science with a major in Office Administration. Candy had a strong love for animals, and she also leaves behind her two dogs (Big Lucy and Little Lucy). Candy would take in animals and feed the homeless cats as she could. Candy lost 3 dogs (Cheyenne, Buddy and Baby) earlier in her life and has missed them since they passed. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Rd, Marion, IN. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will be held at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery following services.
