Carol Ruth Drake (Carnahan), 82, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, November 21, 2024 surrounded by her family in Marion, Indiana. Born on October 5, 1942, in Paris, Illinois, to Lester and Mary Carnahan, Carol lived a life marked by faith, family, and love.
On December 16, 1961, Carol married Clinton Drake, who survives her. Together they built a large and devoted family that stands as a testament to her enduring care and dedication.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wanda Donaldson and Viola Banet; her brother, Wayne Carnahan; her infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Drake; and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Timmermeier.
She is survived by her husband, Clinton; her siblings, Barbara Mattingly, Edith Emrick, John Carnahan, and Nila (Ron) Nugent; her children, Leon (Kandy) Drake, Chris (Winona) Drake, Tracy Timmermeier, Damian Drake, Kimberly Drake, and Regina (Jeff) Correll; her cherished 22 grandchildren: Jeffery, Jesse, Mary Elizabeth, Natasha, Alessa, Zackary, Emilee, Crystal, Amber, Devin, Dustin, Shelsie, Jace, Drew, Kane, Meriah, Dillon, Reece, Megan, Grace, Kody, and Austyn; and several precious great-grandchildren.
A devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Carol was deeply rooted in her faith, spending countless hours in rosary prayer groups and serving her parish community. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light in her life and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Carol’s greatest joy came from her family, to whom she devoted her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and wisdom touched generations. Her legacy of love will live on through her family and all those whose lives she blessed.
Carol will be remembered for her boundless love, her steadfast faith, and the profound impact she had on her family and community. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church 325 E. North A St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Carol’s life will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Father Kevin Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
