Carolyn S. Summers, 85, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 10:15 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1019 Belle’s Place in Wabash. She was born on December 1, 1939, in Upland, Indiana, to Charles and Pauline (Miller) Atkinson.
Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Noble Township High School. She married Jack A. Summers in Wabash on August 10, 1958; he died May 6, 2024. Carolyn was a housewife and worked at Dunphy Nursing Home, Swears Nursing Home, and was a cook at Southwood High School. She attended Grace Community Church in Marion. Carolyn was an excellent cook and she enjoyed relaxing in her pool, camping, traveling and being around people and good friends.
She is survived by four children, Rick (Carol) Summers of South Whitley, Indiana, Teresa (Randy) Airgood and Beverly (Craig) Blocher, both of Wabash, and Sheryl (Sam) Strange of Lagro, Indiana; five granddaughters, Ashley (Judd) Havens, Courtney (Ben) Backer, Erin (Chris) Rickner, Megan (Shawn) Gatchel, and Emily (Josh) Butcher; 13 great-grandchildren, Noah, Quinn, Elliott, and Riley Backer, Ben and Nicole Havens, Micah, Hadley, Owen, and Evelyn Rickner, Grayson Butcher, and Brantley and Cadence Gatchel; and her brother, Wayne Atkinson of Decatur, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Ed Sneed; daughter-in-law, Linda Summers; infant brother, Ernest Atkinson, and her brother, Harold Atkinson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
