Catherine E. “Betty” Warner, 90, North Manchester, passed away at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester on December 1, 2023. She was born on November 3, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Louis H. and Catherine L. (Forgeron) Kahlenbeck.
At an early age, Betty and her family moved to Massachusetts, where she graduated from Newton High in 1951. Betty met Charles “Chuck” Warner while living on the East Coast, and the two were wed on November 13, 1955. During their fifty-four years of marriage, the two were blessed with four children, Deborah, Charles Jr., Cynthia, and Cathy. For most of Betty’s life she worked as a homemaker, which was a fulltime job. She was skilled at sewing, quilting, and especially cooking. Betty and her family later moved to North Manchester, where she worked at Heckman Bindery and Yards of Fun, which she and Chuck owned together.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed relaxing and participating in her bowling league as well as playing cards with her friends after they were finished bowling. She delighted in birdwatching, golfing, and collecting various teddy bears. She also helped her daughter coach softball when she was younger. On Sundays Betty took her family to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, where she was a member.
The loving memory of Catherine “Betty” Warner will be forever cherished by her son, Charles W. Warner Jr., Warsaw; daughters, Deborah “Deb” (Timothy) Willis, Claypool, Cynthia “Cindy” (Mark) Hobbs, North Manchester, and Cathy (Rick) Price, North Manchester; grandchildren, Scott (Jody) Rockwell Jr., David Rockwell, Stephen (Carmen) Rockwell, Autumn Ruffin, Jessica (Braden Knoblock) Sparks, Sarah (Adam) Shreve, Ashley Price, and A.J. Price; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles “Chuck” Warner, who died on March 8, 2010; daughter-in-law, Kellie Warner; brother, Louis C. Kahlenbeck; and sister, Marie Stockton.
Family and friends may call Friday, December 8, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Father Dan Koehl officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Servia, Indiana.
