Charles Robert Rapp

Charles Robert Rapp, 79, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:04 pm, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at his home.  He was born on November 20, 1944, in Huntington, Indiana, to George C. and Agnes (Mattox) Rapp.

Charles was a 1963 graduate of Southwood High School and was a US Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He married Rosie June Pogue at the Asbury United Methodist Church on June 21, 1968; she died April 28, 2013. Charles was a retired truck driver, and drove for New Century Transportation. He was a former member of the Markle, Indiana V.F.W. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, going to auctions and tractor pulls, watching wrestling on television, and was an avid Nascar fan.  

He is survived by his son, Robert C. (Leales) Rapp of Gas City, Indiana; granddaughter, Crystal (Derek) Cooley of Wabash; and three great-grandchildren, Sophia Romine, Theodore Cooley, and August Cooley, all of Wabash.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and George Rapp, and two sisters, Ruth Summers and Joyce Cullar.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Randy Thornburg, Chaplain officiating. Burial will be in LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  Friends may call 12:30-2:00 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.
