Chelsey Danielle Shamory, 40, of Marion, passed away at 8:37 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, July 6, 1984, to Rick and Jill (Layman) Shamory.
Chelsey graduated from Lakewood High School in Florida 2003 and had also attended Mississinewa Schools.
She enjoyed her job taking care of racing dogs when she lived in Florida. She was a member of Jonesboro Friends Church. Chelsey loved playing pool and played in leagues until she was unable to play due to her health. The highlight of her billiards experience was getting to travel to play in championships in Las Vegas and meet her favorite professional pool players. Chelsey was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Purdue Boilermakers. She was an outgoing and loving woman who made many friends over the course of her life. Chelsey left this world too soon but made a good impact with the time she was blessed with. She met many people who loved her and she will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her parents, Rick B. and Jill E. Shamory of Gas City; sister, Michelle (Eric) Brown; nieces, Makana and Kamea; aunts, Angie (Robert) Coulter, Angie Collier, Debbie Jesse, Jayne (late Sam) Martin, and Vickie Layman; uncles, Fred (Cathe) Layman and Jon Scott (Lorie) Layman; several loving cousins and friends; as well as many caregivers and friends at Aperion Care.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dylan M. Shamory; an additional child at birth; uncle, Ted Layman; grandfathers, Jimmie (Phyllis) Shamory, George (Shirley) Gentry, Ted (Delean) Layman; as well as grandmother, Gayle Gentry.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Chelsey’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins and Pastor Rich Wollan officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
