WABASH COUNTY, IN- Honeywell Arts & Entertainment’s CommUNITY Arts Program and Bridging Worlds will present Canturia de mi Sangre (Song of my Blood), a concert experience featuring Chilean musicians and poetry. The free concert experience will take place in the Manchester High School Auditorium on Tuesday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. CommUNITY Arts is a multi-week collaboration between Honeywell Arts In Education and Manchester Community Schools. The program inspires students to give voice to their individual stories through visual art, music, and storytelling. Chilean musicians Kike Galdames and Claudio Gonzalez will perform original compositions set to the works of Gabriela Mistral, a trailblazing Chilean poet and educator who was the first Latin American woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Around 70 students and 20 community members participated in a two-part Creative Canvas Workshop at Manchester High School, inspired by Chilean artist Monroe. The artwork will be displayed during the concert. CommUNITY Arts English Language Learners and advanced Spanish students also participated in a master class with the musicians, focused on integrating music and poetry and developing their own poetic expressions.
