David Herman Fisher, 76, of Peru, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at his home.
He was born on September 8, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas to Elvira Myrtle Fisher (Regan) and Edgar Herman Fisher Jr. David was a graduate of Turner High School in the Class of 1966. He joined the United States Air Force on June 2, 1966, and was honorably discharged on May 24, 1970. After some years he met and married the love of his life (Dana) on February 18, 1983, and she survives. With the arrival of his daughter, Moriah Lee Grace Mercer (Fisher) he returned to military service and served proudly until his retirement from the United States Air Force Reserve at Grissom Air Reserve Base as a Fuel Specialist in 2008.
David was an avid sports fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, his all-time favorite sports team was any team his grandson played on. David never missed a game from the time his grandson started playing sports. His grandson and daughter were his pride and joy. He became a grandpa to many of the boys on every team his grandson played on. He was a family man who would give anyone the shirt off his back and did everything for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dana (Davis) Fisher of Peru, Indiana, daughter and son-in-law Moriah and Andrew Mercer, grandson Jayden Mercer of Peru, Indiana. Brother and Sister-in-Law Edgar and Rosalyn Fisher of Gardner, Kansas; 5 nieces and 1 nephew; and many “adopted” kids and grandkids he gained during his life as a father and grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Regan.
