Delores R. Carpenter, 95, Jonesboro, passed away at 6:40 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Gas City. She was born in Jonesboro, Indiana, on Saturday, February 2, 1929, to Frank and Mary Campbell. On June 26, 1948, she married James Burton Carpenter, Sr. who preceded her in 2011.
Delores attended Jonesboro High School and dedicated her life to being a loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Marion, where she faithfully praised the Lord and read her Bible. Delores enjoyed watching game shows, solving word search puzzles, and reading.
Survivors include her son, James B. (Alice) Carpenter, Jr. of Gas City; daughters, Connie Sue Hurn of Muncie, Christine Louise Bair of Gaston, Cyndia Lou (Tim) Weist of Bluffton; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jane (Bob) Sheets of Lake Placid, FL; and brother, Ernie (Cindy) Campbell of Lake Placid, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Burton Carpenter, Sr.; and son, Jerry Lee Carpenter.
A graveside service to celebrate Delores’ life will begin at 1:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 in Gas City with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
