Dorothea “Toni” Morrisey

Dorothea “Toni”  Morrisey, 97, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died peacefully at 8:07 am, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 24, 1927, in Kitzingen, Germany, to Georg and Anna (Schwarzenberger) Hartländer.

Toni married James Arthur Morrisey in Germany on October 29, 1955; they divorced in 1966. She worked and retired from Manchester College after more than 30 years. She was an avid reader including books in German. She also enjoyed helping her daughter, Diana, garden and working outdoors. Another hobby Toni had was knitting and crocheting, and she made baby blankets for every grandchild and great grandchild. She loved animals and enjoyed being involved with all her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by two children; Steven (Margaret) Morrisey of Germantown, Maryland, and Diana (John) Reed of Fort Wayne, six grandchildren; Megan (Trent Hayden) Morrisey of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Caitlin (Jimmy) Carballo of New Market, Maryland, Sean Morrisey of Rockville, Maryland, Kelli (Tyler) Sordelet of Roanoke, Indiana, Nolan (Lexi) Reed of Auburn, Indiana, and J. Logan Reed of Fort Wayne, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Betty.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.  Friends may call 12:00 – 2:00 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Humane Society or Stillwater Hospice.
