She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, March 10, 1930, to Carl and Freda (Lahmon) McCoy. She married Ronald Harley “Ronnie” Pattison, Sr., on April 30, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2007.
Along with her three brothers and three sisters, she attended elementary and high school (Frog College) in Jonesboro. Dorothy worked at Daly Brothers Shoe Factory in Marion prior to her marriage and then was a stay-at-home wife and mother to her daughter and four sons. When her youngest son, Jerry, started school, she became employed at Foster Forbes Glass Company (now Ardagh Group) and retired after 28 years of service. She made many good friends and many good memories at Foster Forbes.
Ronnie was a union brick mason, contractor and refractory specialist, as their family grew, built Dorothy three brick/masonry homes and an in-ground pool for their five children. He then remodeled her Old Kokomo Rd. childhood home where they lived in their retirement. Dorothy often said it was her “favorite home”.
Dorothy will be remembered for her contagious, one-of-a-kind laugh and her beautiful blue eyes. She had a sense of style and fashion, and loved to shop. She was an avid reader, but her children and grandchildren were her main “hobby”. Dorothy had a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews. She loved their visits, talked of them often, and held them close in her heart.
Dorothy is survived by her younger sister, Janet Fox; and her three sons, Ronald H. Pattison, Jr. (Ronnie) and his wife, Sandi, John Allen Pattison, and his wife Debbie and Jerry Lee Pattison.
