Dorothy Louise Weldy, 97, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 2:08 pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Timbercrest Healthcare in North Manchester. She was born on July 2, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Lief S. and Lois S. (Kohler) Garver.
Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio, and a 1949 graduate of Manchester College. She married Gilbert R Weldy in Woodworth, Ohio on June 12, 1949; he died December 20, 2008. Dorothy was a teacher. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren and had been involved with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. for 36 years. She was active in leadership roles for the Presbyterian Women and the Church Women United.
She is survived by her children, Luan (James) Harmeson of Cary, North Carolina, and Dan Weldy of Ojai, California; four grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Alexander of Apex, North Carolina, Justin Harmeson and Daniel (Natalie) Harmeson, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Adam Weldy of Lexington, Kentucky; five great grandchildren; and her siblings, Jane Johnson and Don Garver; and sister-in-law Nancy Garver. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Garver, Armin Garver, and Dale Garver; and her sister, Martha Vaughn.
Graveside services will be at a later date at the Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester.
