Dorothy Mae (Dottie) Woodhams

Dorothy Mae (Dottie) Woodhams, 95, of Peru passed away on June 17, 2024. She was born June 11, 1929 in Chicago, IL to the late Anthony and Mary Supject.

Dottie was a beautiful bright spirit, always very positive and encouraging and full of grace. She grew up in Stevens Point, WI, on the family farm with her sister Marcy. The family then moved to Traverse City, MI and later Kalamazoo, MI where she graduated from Central High School in 1947. Dottie went on the study business and dance at Hillsdale College in MI where she met the love of her life, Walter B. Woodhams. They were married for 67 years and raised five children together. She cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Throughout her life Dottie had several successful careers teaching high school business, working as a Realtor and Broker for Century 21 and serving as the Board Secretary for Woodcrest Manufacturing. In addition, Dottie owned Woodcrest Apartments.

As a devout Catholic, Dottie found solace in her faith at St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru, IN. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and writing on her cursive typewriter and it was always typical to hear her singing along joyously as she did! Her laughter was infectious.

Dottie will be deeply missed by her devoted family. Children Walter A. Woodhams, Mark L. Woodhams (Sally Black), and John Woodhams (Pam). Additional deceased children to include David M. Woodhams and Ann L. Woodhams Schultheis.  Also surviving are daughter-in-law, Wanda Woodhams, and son-in-law, Tim Schultheis; in addition to grandchildren:  Nicki Schultheis Messmer (Michael), Amy Woodhams Elbin (John), Mike Woodhams (Stephanie), Alex Woodhams, Robby Schultheis (Carly), AJ Woodhams, Allison Woodhams Bulchak (Lucas), and Ben Woodhams.
