Downtown Wabash welcomes Henrietta the Elephant: A new public art installation

WABASH, IN- Continuing the momentum from the recent beautification of Rock City Alley Walkway, Downtown Wabash, Inc. is excited to announce the installment of its latest public art piece: Henrietta, a striking 11-foot-tall, 3,000-pound elephant adorned with vibrant blue and orange polka dots. Henrietta, sourced from the renowned Prescott Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, now resides at one of Wabash’s busiest intersections, the Northeast corner of Wabash and Canal Streets. The sculpture’s kinetic head, gently swaying with a light breeze, adds a dynamic element to the space. Made possible through generous private donations earmarked for public art installations, Henrietta reflects Downtown Wabash, Inc.’s ongoing commitment to bringing public art to the community. Henrietta is sure to become a popular attraction for social media posts, group photos, and even wedding parties. “We are excited to have this project partially completed,” said Kristen Petruniw, Executive Director of Downtown Wabash Inc. “Later this fall, we will be installing mosaic circles to complete the project.” The installation was supported by the Wabash City Street Department, Timberlane Landscaping, and local contributor Mark Sorg. Amy Ford, a member of Downtown Wabash Inc.’s design committee, added, “It is always amazing when people pull together to make these projects a reality.” Henrietta is part of Downtown Wabash, Inc.’s ongoing efforts to beautify and enhance key areas of the city. The new installation is set to become a must-see focal point for both residents and tourists alike. For more information about Downtown Wabash, Inc. visit DowntownWabash.org.
