Edeltraut Hulda Edith Craig, 90, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 6:23 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. Born on May 20, 1934, to Johann and Hulda (Junge) Pletz, Edeltraut lived a life full of love and dedication.
On June 2, 1954, she married the love of her life, Ralph Orville Craig, who preceded her in death on June 19, 2018. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many wonderful years.
Edeltraut was a devoted homemaker and a cherished member of St. James Lutheran Church. She had a passion for cooking, especially known for her delicious fried potatoes. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each of them.
A talented seamstress, Edeltraut once sewed an entire dress by hand. She also loved to crochet and found fulfillment in working with the elderly at the nursing home, where her kindness and compassion touched many lives.
Edeltraut’s legacy of love, creativity, and service will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Bussert of Marion and Linda (Bernd) Weirich of Marion; granddaughters, Angela (Erich) Sherlock of AL, Nina Hughes of Marion, and Sonya Weirich of Marion; granddaughter-in-law, Rikki Planck of Gas City; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Michael; great-grandson, Benjamin; and six siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Edeltraut’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Clarence Hand officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
