Edna W. Reaves, formerly of Marion, IN, passed away October 17th, 2024 in Anderson, IN.
Edna was born in Arkansas to Hugh and Glenda Sharp. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Pontiac High School. In 1953, she married Roy Pyle with whom she had five children, and he proceeded her in death. In 1967, she married Jerald Reaves, with whom she had one child.
Edna worked at various businesses in Marion over the years, while also being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and reading romance novels. She also spend much of her later years helping raise grandchildren and being active in church. She was known for her fabulous bread baking skills and would spend much of the holiday season making sure everyone in the family got a loaf of her famous braided bread and homemade rolls.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jerald; her brothers Hugh Sharp and Leonard Sharp; daughters Diane Pyle, Denise Cochran, and Debra Brown; and grandchild Shaun Pyle.
Edna is survived by her children Donald (Tracy)Pyle, Doneta Pyle, and Amy (Patrick) Gwaltney; grandchildren Dustin Pyle, Amanda Pyle, Daniel Pyle, Diana Pyle, Jason Brown, Kelsey Brown, Tahitia Pyle, Shane Pyle, Tyler Loftis, James Gwaltney, and Keith Gwaltney. She also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Edna was the rock of her family and will by greatly missed. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Beaumont Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, who cared for Edna during her final two years. Their compassion and caring for Edna went above and beyond.
