Eldrid I. Tinkel, 83, of Marion, passed away at 3:27 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on April 5, 1941, to Homer and Velma (Embree) Tinkel. Eldrid attended Sweetser High School and worked as a custodian for 32 years with Marion Community Schools. He was a dedicated member of the Circle G Horse Club. Eldrid enjoyed collecting antique tractors and horses, as well as attending auctions. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of basketball, football, and auto racing. He and his wife, Myrtle, sold tickets together for the Marion Giants games. Eldrid also took great pleasure in working outside. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Elsworth of Upland; brothers, Embree (Nancy) Tinkel of Marion and Glen Tinkel of Swayzee; grandchildren, Taylor Elsworth of Pendleton and Whitney (Ryan) Jones of Markleville; great-grandchildren, Ila Jones, Hope Jones, Milo Jones, Abel Elsworth, and Jax Elsworth; step-son, Edward Wright of Kenosha, WI; step-daughter, Cathryn (Jeff) Voght of Marion; step-grandchildren, Joseph Voght of Fort Wayne and Elizabeth Suzano of Indianapolis; and step-great-grandchildren, Jayden, AJ, and Nio Suzano. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Jane (Manges) Tinkel; parents; daughter, Teresa Tinkel; brother, Eldin (Bonnie) Tinkel; and sister, Wymema Stepler. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Eldrid’s life will begin at 1:00 pm.
