Elise “Miki” Marie (Saylor) Chafin

Elise “Miki” Marie (Saylor) Chafin, 62, of Peru, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2025. Born on December 6, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, Miki brought light and love into the world from the very beginning.

Miki was a beautiful soul, both inside and out. She never met a stranger and always went out of her way to lift up those around her. Known for her selflessness, Miki would give the shirt off her back if it meant helping someone in need. Her heart knew no bounds, and her kindness and compassion touched everyone she met.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—music, gardening, spontaneous drives, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and a grandmother. Her grandson was her entire world, and she was a constant source of comfort and love to him and so many others. Miki was a safe place for countless people, offering acceptance and understanding without judgment.

Miki was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Elise (Skroko) Gridley; father, Donald Saylor; step-father, Gene Gridley; sister, Loretta (Bolin) Mason; and many other cherished loved ones.

She is survived by her loving children: daughter Nancy (Matt) Kirk, sons Bobby Chafin, Jr. and Donny Chafin; her treasured grandson Bobby Chafin III and his mother, Katie Cole, who held a very special place in Miki’s heart. She is also survived by her former husband and lifelong friend, Bob Chafin, Sr.; her brothers James Bolin, Michael Bolin, and Bobby Bolin; sister Patricia (Bolin) Burnett; and many cousins whom she considered siblings.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. 3rd Street, Peru, IN 46970. A burial service will immediately follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park, 8315 Logansport Road, Logansport, IN 46947.

Miki’s legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
