Ernie Dean Ferguson

Ernie Dean Ferguson, 72, of Marion, passed away on January 29, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August 1, 1951, Ernie’s journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and fun.

Ernie is survived by his beloved wife of almost 49 years, Janet (Gulley) Ferguson, as well as his daughters, Shelley (Rick) Rauch of Noblesville and Tammy (Mark) Fagan of Marion. Ernie's love extended to his niece, Shannon (Jamie) Clariett, their children, Justin and Jalen, and the three beloved grandchildren he loved most, Karsen (fiancé Devon Cram) Rauch, Maddie Rauch, and J.D. Fagan; sibling, Vicki (deceased); as well as many friends whom he considered family. Preceding him in death were his father, Charles “Pepper” Ferguson, and mother, Norma (Spaulding) Ferguson.

Ernie graduated from Marion High School in 1969. He started working at the RCA factory before Janet and he purchased the 31 Club in South Marion. Later, they owned the Plymouth Club and Crest Lanes.

Ernie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Ernie had 3 holes in one and two 300 bowling games. He loved all Marion Giants sports teams.

Ernie’s catch phrases included “Just one more.” and “Let me tell you.” If you spent time with Ernie, you certainly heard those phrases and enjoyed his company. Ernie was inducted into the Marion Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a member of Marion’s Fraternal Order of the Elks and supported it as a golfer and member.

Friends and family are invited to honor Ernie’s life during the visitation on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952. The funeral service will start at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952. Ernie loved all animals, especially the numerous dogs he had over the years.
