Ethel Marie Fogel, 89, of LaFontaine, Indiana, died at 8:40 pm, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine. She was born on July 14, 1935, in Wabash County, Indiana, to Burvia and Mable (Long) Hoover.
Ethel was a 1953 graduate of Urbana High School. She married Paul H. Fogel in Urbana on September 29, 1962; he died March 19, 2011. Ethel worked 4 years at Cyclone Seeder in Urbana, 14 years at Kroger Egg in Wabash, and was a farmer’s wife, actively working on the family farm. She was a member of the Urbana Yoke Parish. Ethel enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and was an excellent cook. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Laura) Fogel of LaFontaine; six grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Fogel, Erin (Tyler LaPlante) Fogel, Elizabeth (Seth) Weitzel, Laci (Adam) Taylor, Jaci (Levi) Wolf, Chole Fogel; eight great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Norma Wilcox of Warsaw, Indiana, Mary Schenkel of Andrews, Indiana, Irene (Larry “Doc”) Donaldson of Roann, Nancy (Max) Neher of Kent, Indiana, Larry (Janie) Hoover and Fred (Mel) Hoover, both of Wabash. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Virgia Schnepp and Doris Mattern, and brothers, Doyle Hoover and Harvey Hoover.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Randy Myers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 11 am – 1 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
