Evadene J. Turner, 87, Marion, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 2:06 am. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, March 22, 1937, to Marion and Stella (Dickey) Briles.
Evadene graduated from Swayzee High School and dedicated her life to being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She was a cherished member of Grace Community Church, where she found a strong sense of community and faith. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. As a devoted wife, she was always by her husband’s side and they enjoyed many years of gardening together. She also enjoyed listening to the music of the Gaither’s, the simple pleasures of riding in the Model T, and attending her grandchildren’s activities, making lasting memories with those she loved.
On May 28, 1955, Evadene married the love of her life, Delbert Eugene Turner, who preceded her in death on March 4, 2022. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many wonderful years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Shorten of Marion; sons, Jerry (Tracy) Turner of Marion and Dennis (Karen) Turner of Marion; grandsons, Brian (Sarah) Shorten, Eric (Brooke) Shorten, Craig Turner, Andrew (Kira) Turner, Austin Turner, and Tyler (Wesley) Sloan; granddaughters, Amanda Turner, Stacy (Tom) Lovell, Jessica Sloan, Ashley Beckham, and Kelli (Leonard) Wynk; great-grandchildren, Mason, Mylam, Grace, Scott, Hallie, Jackson, Wayd, Kandis, Ryder, Tegan, Clayton, Korbin, and Ellie; great-great-grandchildren, Joliegh, RJ, and Wayd, Jr.; sister, Janet (David) McCord; sister-in-law, Beverly Briles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Maurice Briles, Phil Briles, and Richard Briles; and sister, Betty Fosnough.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, a funeral service to celebrate Evadene’s life will be held at North Chapel at 11:00 am with additional visitation prior, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Knox Cemetery.
