Experienced nurse practitioner pleased to be returning to Peru

PERU, IN – Olivia Hayes, NP, has joined Parkview Physicians Group – Family Medicine and is welcoming new patients in her office at the Parkview multi-specialty clinic, 750 N. Broadway in Peru.

“We are so pleased that Olivia will be serving patients at the clinic,” said Deb Potempa, market president, Parkview Health South. “Hers will be a familiar face to many folks in the area. It’s always wonderful when a provider returns to a community where they already have strong roots and relationships.”

Hayes is experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions. Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she has served diverse patients for eight years in primary care office and pharmacy clinic settings in Peru and, for the past year, in Kokomo.

As a nurse practitioner, Hayes is qualified to order and interpret diagnostic testing, conduct wellness exams and health screenings, provide health education and counseling, and manage acute and chronic conditions.

She is also a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI).

Hayes earned her bachelor (BSN) and master’s degrees (MSN) in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion. Earlier in her nursing education, she built her knowledge and skills foundation with an LPN from Ivy Tech Community College in Kokomo and an associate degree in nursing from Indiana University Kokomo.

Hayes enjoys the variety and challenges of primary care, working with patients ages 2 and up to help them lead fuller, healthier lives.

“I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to care for patients at a different level, over a longer period of time,” she said. “I enjoy the personal relationship that is built between provider and patient, and the diverse nature of primary care.”

“My approach to health care,” Hayes continued, “is patient-centered to improve health outcomes through health promotion, disease management and prevention. Helping each person find success in achieving better health is very meaningful to, and rewarding for, me. I enjoy the mutual trust that we build together as provider and patient.”

Away from work, Hayes has a busy family life, as she is married with two daughters and a new grandbaby. During quiet moments, she enjoys reading and gardening.

At the Peru clinic’s PPG – Family Medicine office, same-day appointments are available for non-emergent illnesses or injuries.
