Experienced OB/GYN serving health needs of women in Huntington, Wabash counties

HUNTINGTON, IN- Takunda Mugwisi, MD, has joined the Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – OB/GYN team in Huntington and is now providing care for patients in Huntington and Wabash counties.
“We are so pleased that Dr. Mugwisi has chosen to become part of the Parkview family of providers and to serve women in our area,” said Deb Potempa, market president, Parkview Health South. “Building relationships with patients and colleagues is important to him, and we look forward to all he will bring to our communities.”
Dr. Mugwisi completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology through the Wayne State University program at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, after receiving his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in Miami, Florida. During his residency, he was nominated by the Henry Ford Medical Association for the Peter Cogan Teaching Award in recognition of his dedication and exceptional achievements as a physician, researcher and teacher. Among other awards, he also received the Gentle Hands Award for his support of midwifery.
Prior to medical school, Mugwisi earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Indiana University South Bend. Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Previously, Mugwisi lived in the Peru/Wabash area for nine years, providing women’s health services at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He now provides holistic care in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology for Parkview patients in Huntington and Wabash.
Away from the office, Mugwisi is an avid gardener. He and his wife have three young daughters, and the family enjoys traveling, playing card games and watching movies together.
