Exploring Art, History, and Community in Wabash County Museum’s Summer Thursday Parlays


WABASH, IN- The Wabash County Museum is delighted to announce its continued speakers series, The Thursday Parlay, will continue throughout the summer months. The museum invites the guests to check out the diverse array of presentations while enjoying coffee and a treat from sponsor Bob Evans Restaurant.

June 6th @10am: My Father’s Art
Join in on June 6th at 10 am for an exploration into the world of renowned cartoonist, artist,
and toy designer, Edward McCandlish. Presented by his daughter, Evelyn "Hope" Rider, this
session promises a deeper understanding of McCandlish's multifaceted contributions. From
his enchanting children's books to his humorous twist on ration maps, McCandlish's legacy
continues to inspire. Hope Rider, a resident of Wabash for over five decades, offers a unique
perspective. Don't miss this opportunity to delve into the life and works of a truly remarkable
individual.

July 11th at 10 am: The Theory and Practice of Rivers
Discover the intrinsic connection between stream and story with Ryan Schnurr, a writer,
editor, and educator hailing from northeast Indiana. In his workshop, "The Theory and
Practice of Rivers," Schnurr delves into the symbiotic relationship between rivers and
community memory, drawing from his work on Fort Wayne's Maumee River. Attendees will
craft their own "river stories" and gain fresh perspectives on their relationship with the natural
world.

August 1st @ 10am: The Woman’s Clubhouse
Mark your calendars for August 1st at 10 am as they welcome artist Ellen Stouffer to the Wabash County Museum. Beyond her creative pursuits, Ellen's passion for community shines through her dedication to the Woman's Clubhouse. Alongside her husband, artist Bill Stouffer, Ellen spearheaded the restoration of this historic landmark, breathing new life into its storied walls. Join in as Ellen Stouffer shares the rich history and profound impact of the Woman's
Clubhouse on the fabric of Wabash County.
All events will be held at the Wabash County Museum. Thursday Parlays are free but RSVPs are encouraged via the museum's website. Join in for a summer of inspiration, discovery, and
