NORTH MANCHESTER, IN- On September 27, 2024 at 9:04am, the Wabash County Central Dispatch Center received a report of a structure fire at 1109 State Road 114 east, North Manchester. Upon arrival, North Manchester Fire Department units found heavy fire involvement coming from a picture window on the north side of the residence. Firefighters were advised that there was a person still inside the residence. Firefighters found a deceased elderly female inside the back door after a lengthy search due to the conditions inside the residence. The fire was under control within 20-30 minutes. from arrival on the scene. Fire units were on the scene until 2:34pm. The fire was believed to have started in the living room and the cause is still under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Chester Township Fire Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, Sidney/Jackson Township Fire Department, North Manchester Police Department, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Parkview EMS, Indiana State Fire Marshal Investigator, and the Wabash County Coroner.
