Freda M. Booher Wears, 93, of Marion, passed away at 3:26 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Aperion Care in Marion. She was born in Orma, West Virginia, on March 19, 1931, to Greely and Delphia (Conrad) White.
Freda attended Calhoun County High School and was a homemaker, dedicating many years to caring for her family. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, where she was devoted to her Lord and Savior. Freda was a loving mother and grandmother, known for her easy-going, friendly, and caring nature. She enjoyed fishing and traveling, having taken many trips in her later years.
She is survived by her daughters, Loretta M. (late John) Sampson of Marion and Carol Swearinger of Grantsville, WV; grandchildren, Charles Sampson, Patti Chance, Kevin Booher, Rebecca Anderson, Sheree Gandee, Craig Booher, and Justin Yoak; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Greely and Delphia White; her first husband, Deward Booher; her second husband, Everett Wears; her son, David Booher; and her sisters, Murl White, Edith White, and Edna Carpenter.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Freda’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Phil Lake officiating. Burial will take place at Orma Community Cemetery in West Virginia on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
