Garry Lee Childers, 85, of rural Claypool, Indiana, died at 12:54 pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on November 9, 1939, in Bunker Hill, Indiana, to Richard and Esther (Currens) Childers.
Garry was a graduate of Clay Township High School in Miami County, Indiana. He was a retired farmer. Garry was a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW, both of North Manchester. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn, watching his grandchildren’s activities and sharing a birthday with his granddaughter Emilee.
He is survived by three children, Holly (Craig) Owens of Silver Lake, Indiana, Kelly Childers of Tampa, Florida, and Christopher (Kris) Childers of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ethan Owens, Eli Owens, and Emilee Owens, all of Silver Lake, Cale (Hannah) Childers and Kennedy Childers, both of Des Moines, Iowa; two great grandchildren; and his sister, Diane Patrick of Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services and burial will be 2:30 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Friends may call 4-7 pm Thursday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.
