WABASH, IN- As the season of giving approaches, Downtown Wabash, Inc. is excited to celebrate the businesses that make the downtown district thrive. In the spirit of gratitude, they’re hosting a special event for November’s First Friday on Friday, November 1, from 5-8pm, where fun and giving back come together.
At this ‘Give Thanks’ First Friday event, visitors can complete a Stamping Map by visiting participating businesses throughout downtown. Participants who complete the map will be entered for a chance to win exciting prizes. Two adult winners will receive $100 in Downtown Dollars, and two lucky children will win $25 in Downtown Dollars, all redeemable at local participating stores.
In the true spirit of the season, they’re also encouraging downtown businesses to give back by partnering with local nonprofits. Many will host donation drives, organize canned food collections, or raise funds for charities of their choice. Be sure to check the social media channels to see which businesses are partnering with nonprofits and how you can support their efforts.
They're thrilled to announce that United Fund will be open during the event, hosting several nonprofits they support, including the Wabash County Cancer Society and the Learn More Center. Stop by to meet representatives from these organizations and learn how you can contribute to their causes.
Homespun Vibes is one of the featured charity partners. Owner Barbara Whitmer shared, "Homespun Vibes is thrilled to participate in First Friday and give back to our incredible community! We invite everyone to join us in collecting non-perishable food items and new or gently used winter clothing to support those in need, with donations going to the Lighthouse Mission and the Senior Center."
Another featured charity partner is Modoc’s Market, where Kelly Thompson expressed their excitement to give back: "We’re excited to be part of this year’s First Friday and do our part for the community! At Modoc's Market, we’ll be supporting the Wabash County Animal Shelter by collecting donations of cat and dog food, unscented bleach, Dawn dish soap, and OdoBan cleaner. We encourage everyone to stop by and help us make a difference for our local furry friends."
