In loving memory of Gloria K. Shanks, 81, Marion, who passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at University Nursing Center in Upland. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, August 19, 1943, to Clarence and Mardella (Nelson) Rook. On August 24, 1961, she married Jack Shanks.
Gloria graduated from Bennett High School and attended Taylor University. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Gloria enjoyed traveling and when she wasn’t exploring new places, she loved engaging in arts and crafts and cooking. Gloria had a special love for the holidays and family gatherings, always bringing joy and warmth to every occasion. She also had a talent for remodeling homes, transforming spaces with her unique touch.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Julie Shanks of Marion; grandson, Zachary Shanks; granddaughter, Briana (Jordan) Drook; and daughter-in-law, Karla Shanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mardella Rook; husband, Jack Shanks; son, Mark Shanks; and brothers, Mike Rook and Pat Rook.
A graveside service to celebrate Gloria's life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 and will begin at 3:00 pm with Father Okeke Hilary officiating at Estates of Serenity.
