Harley Leedy, 14, beloved dog of Tom and Beth Anne Leedy passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Harley had a previous life to Tom and Beth Anne; one of which consisted of abuse and neglect. He was abandoned at a local vet and adopted by Tom and Beth Anne in 2012. With much love and tender care, he began to trust them and let his guard down.

Because of his cruel past, Harley was selective in who he trusted. Although he loved both Tom and Beth Anne, he definitely favored Beth Anne. Harley and Beth Anne shared a great love of peanut butter. He was also quite the watch dog and often barked at the slightest noises.

Harley and his younger dog brother, Smoke, enjoyed playing tug of war with anything and everything they could. (They ripped up countless blankets doing so.) They were true partners in crime and followed each other into many comical situations.

Harley has spent the last couple of weeks in and out of the vet’s care. They determined a diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disorder that interrupts nerve and muscular function. We believe the loss of his buddy, Smoke, also contributed to his rapid decline.

We find comfort in knowing Harley was able to pass peacefully and we know he is now free of pain. Harley will be forever missed and remembered as our Harl-Carl, Brown Bean, and/or Brown.

We kindly ask for prayers for Tom and Beth Anne during this time. Losing one pet is a cause for heartache, but both in less than two weeks nearly unbearable. Any cards or words of encouragement may be sent to the funeral home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, IN, 46970.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
