Helen Louise (Gilbert) Bowman, 92, of Wabash, Indiana passed away peacefully at 11:44 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Bickford of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on April 5, 1932, to Lester and Hulleta (Kistler) Gilbert in rural South Whitley, Indiana. She will be remembered as a sweet and loving woman.
Helen married Roland “Sam” Bowman on June 7, 1953, and then moved to Somerset, Indiana. Helen worked as a factory worker for numerous factories around Wabash County throughout her adulthood. She held a membership with Friends Church in Wabash, Indiana. Helen was also an avid collector of a variety of different items.
Helen is survived by her son, Michael (Sally) Bowman of Peru, Indiana; two daughters, Glendus (Kirk Kalbfleisch) Dowell of Kalispell, Montana, Christina Bowman of Madison, Indiana; two grandchildren, Neil (Nicole W.) Bowman, Andrea (Zach) Craft; eight great-grandchildren, Braden, Eve, Berkley, Ella, Jaxxon, Mia, Cam, and Alyssa; one brother, Donald Gilbert; seven sisters, Elouise Bolinger, Frances Cottrell, Doris Krider, Wanda Stover, Norma Jean Hogan, Gyneth Kethcart, Patricia Foy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Hulleta Gilbert; husband, Roland Bowman who passed away on August 11, 2005; three brothers, Glenn, Kenneth, Galen; three sisters, Phyllis Baker, Ada Rumsey, and Mildred Burnett.
The family would like to add a special thank you to Eleos Hospice Service and Bickford of Wabash for the loving care their mother received over the last few months and years. No words could properly express their gratitude.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 52 years.
