HUNTINGTON, IN- At approximately 9:35PM on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, Huntington Central Dispatch received information that Nathan Lee Fugate, a 33-year-old white male, was located at 248 Roche Street in the City of Huntington. Mr. Fugate had outstanding warrants for his arrest which were issued out of Allen County, Indiana.
Officers from the Huntington Police Department responded to the residence in an attempt to locate Mr. Fugate. Officers knocked and announced their presence at the home. A male responded from inside the residence and threatened to shoot officers if they entered. This man was later identified as Nathan Lee Fugate. Mr. Fugate continued to make threats toward officers as he barricaded himself inside the upstairs apartment. It was later determined Mr. Fugate had no contractual interest in the apartment as it was vacant and available for rent.
At approximately 10:42PM contact was made with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office to request the assistance of their SWAT team. As the SWAT team responded to Huntington, local officers evacuated nearby homes for the safety of our Huntington residents. The Allen County SWAT team was assisted at the scene by the Fort Wayne Police Department Drone unit. After a brief standoff, Mr. Fugate was safely taken into custody at approximately 2:34AM on Tuesday, June 4th. He was transported to Parkview Huntington Hospital for medical treatment.
This investigation is ongoing and local charges are pending.
