I-69 crash claims life of Hicksville man

GRANT COUNTY, IN – On October 10, 2024, just after 2:00 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and the Van Buren Police Department responded to an injury-involved crash on I-69 northbound near the 270-mile-marker in which a Hicksville, OH, man died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Master Trooper AJ Coffee revealed that Gurmanjit Singh, 25, of Greenwood, IN, was driving a 2020 VOLVO Semi traveling northbound on I-69, approaching the 270 mile-marker. For an undetermined reason, the VOLVO rear-ended a 2021 Ford Explorer driven by Noah L. Yoder, 81, of Hicksville, OH.

Life-saving measures were utilized but were unsuccessful. Yoder was pronounced deceased at the crash scene by the Grant County Coroner’s Office. Singh did not sustain any injury during this crash.

This is an ongoing investigation. At this time, neither the consumption of alcoholic beverages nor narcotics are suspected of contributing to this crash. Notification to the family of the deceased has been made.
