Born on May 5, 1942, in Marion, Indiana, Charlie was the son of Carlos and Ruth (Tincher) Stephens. On July 9, 1971, he married the love of his life, Alberta Bernice Stephens, and together they shared 55 years of marriage and family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charlie attended Marion High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a diesel truck mechanic for more than 30 years with CR Truck Service. Known as a true &#8220;jack of all trades,&#8221; Charlie could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charlie enjoyed fishing, listening to country music, spending time with his beloved dogs, and, most of all, being with his family. He was a member of the American Legion and cherished the friendships he made throughout his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include his loving wife, Bernice Stephens of Marion; sons, Charles (Rachel) Stephens II of Marion and Aaron (Emily) Stephens of Port Charlotte, Florida; grandchildren, Chase (Casey) Stephens and Zach (Greer) Stephens, both of Marion, Sierra Thornburg and Sable Thornburg, both of Muncie, Grace (Arron) Geddes of Ireland, and Rebecca Stephens of Port Charlotte, Florida; great-granddaughters, Addison Stephens and Magdalene Stephens; sisters, Maryann Holloway of Herbst, and Nikki (Dennis) Rinker of Marion; brothers-in-law, John (Diane) Hueston of Lorida, FL and George Hueston of Marion; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Ruth Stephens; son, Justin Stephens; sisters, Bonnie J. Cunningham and Carolyn Holmes; and brother, Dale Allen Stephens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charlie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, mechanical talents, love of family, and the kindness he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family of Charlie would like to send their heartfelt thank you to the staff of Colonial Health and Rehab for their care and compassion they showed Charlie over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral &amp; Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Charles&#8217; life will begin at 11:30 am with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.
