Callers (who may identify themselves as a police officer) will call a business and request that an employee take money and make various deposits on bar code accounts. The caller may have some minimal information about the business (such as an owner or possible manager). The caller may also insist that you only speak with them in reference to this matter and make it sound emergent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As always, we encourage the public and business owners to use an abundance of caution as it pertains to fraudulent calls and emails. If something seems off, it probably is.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A simple way to protect yourself, your family and business would be to put into place a \u201cfail safe \u201c word that you could institute into the conversation. If the caller doesn\u2019t know the word that you and your family or business has put into place, it\u2019s likely the call is a scam.
