Indiana American Water recognize Wabash area non-profit organizations that support and enhance community

Wabash, IN- Indiana American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF), a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently made a splash in Wabash and Wabash County. The Foundation provided a combined total of $13,500 in State Strategic Impact grants to three organizations.
Wabash River Trail, Inc. received $7,500 to further efforts in expanding and improving river access for canoes and kayaks in Lagro, IN. The grant supports Wabash River Trail’s ongoing efforts to make the trail a centerpiece for the community.
In accepting the donation, Amy Ford, President of Wabash River Trail stated, “The Wabash River Trail is a project I hold near and dear as it has truly become a treasured gem in our county. The route is incredibly beautiful and links two communities as it meanders alongside the river, woods, and beautiful fields. It has also put Lagro back on the map and many people have noticed and started investing in residences and businesses here.”
In addition, the Foundation provided State Strategic Impacts grants in the Wabash area:
  • $1,000 was provided to the Community Foundation of Wabash County to support environmental and water conservation efforts in the county; and
  • The Wabash County United Fund, an organization that invests in programs that have a positive impact on the quality of life for residents of Wabash County, received $5,000.
“At Indiana American Water, our commitment to supporting and enhancing the communities where we live, work, and operate is unwavering,” said Brandon France, Indiana American Water’s Wabash Operations Superintendent. “Beyond our continuous infrastructure upgrades, the programs offered through our Foundation exemplify our dedication to making meaningful investments that benefit the communities we serve.”
The State Strategic Impact grant is part of the 2024 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. State Strategic Impact grants support high-impact projects and initiatives throughout American Water’s national footprint.
