Inez Lucille Criss (née Gebhart), 87, of LaFontaine, Indiana, left us far too soon on the 26th of November, 2024. Lucille will be remembered fondly by friends and family alike for her generous nature and her love for her grandchildren.
Born on January 6th, 1937 in Wirth, Arkansas, Lucille grew up one of eleven children of John and Myrtle Gebhart. She married Wayne Criss on the 14th of April, 1972, and after working a number of years at General Tire in Marion, she retired in order to focus on raising her children, Samuel and Iris. In 2000, Lucille purchased a farm in LaFontaine where she gardened and raised chickens, and where she remained in residence until her death.
Lucille is survived by her sisters, Violet and Rachel; her daughter, Iris Birchfield; and her grandsons, Jonathan Purvis, Samuel Birchfield, and Kendall Birchfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle; her husband, Wayne; her brothers,
John, John Wesley, Walter, William, and George; her sisters, Mae, Ruth, and Edith; and her sons, Jackie Earl Rogers and Samuel Purvis Jr.
Visitation will be held from 3pm to 5pm on December 3, 2024 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru.
